|Model Steam Engine & Project Plans for the Home Shop Machinist|
Welcome to the homepage of Workbench-Miniatures, catering to the Home Shop Machinist interested in small scale stationary steam engines as well as other projects useful in building, displaying, and running them.
The plan sets offered within these pages have been designed in many cases specifically for the "benchtop" machinist utilizing smaller machine tools like Sherline™, Unimat™, and others with similar capacities. More on this can be found in the FAQ's section.
Plan sets encompass various skill levels from relative novice, to the more advanced machinist.
In addition, each engine is designed to be built from "bar" stock, meaning that no castings are required. In many cases, "scrapbox" materials (aluminum, brass, steel) can be used. In other cases, materials like small brass round stock or strips are generally available from local hobby suppliers.
